Telangana is set to have its first Skill Development University. The foundation stone for this new university will be laid on August 1. The university will be built on about 50 acres of land and will cost around Rs 100 crore. It will be located in Mucherla and aims to help unemployed youth by teaching them skills needed by various industries.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced this news during a public meeting in Kalwakurthy. The meeting was held before the unveiling of the statue of former union minister S Jaipal Reddy on his fifth death anniversary.
Revanth Reddy also mentioned other plans. Rs 10 crore will be allocated for the National Academy of Construction at Amangal. Additionally, five ‘high-level bridges’ costing Rs 15 crore will be built.
A new Government School will be opened in Madgula mandal, estimated to cost Rs 10 crore. For Thandra High School, where Revanth Reddy studied, Rs 5 crore will be sanctioned for its development. Another Rs 5 crore will be allocated for a school in Valigonda.
The government will also sanction a 100-bed hospital for Kalwakurty and a degree college at Amangal. Revanth Reddy had promised these during his election campaign. He emphasized that all mandal and district centers would be well-connected with BT roads. Additionally, the Hyderabad-Srisailam Road will be converted into a four-lane highway as a tribute to S Jaipal Reddy.
Revanth Reddy responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments on the bifurcation of the state. Modi had criticized the way the Congress government handled the process. Revanth Reddy explained that the situation in the Lok Sabha was chaotic, and on advice from Jaipal Reddy, the then Speaker Meira Kumar stopped the live telecast and closed the doors to introduce the bill.
Revanth Reddy also said that if the Congress party had named Jaipal Reddy as the first Chief Minister of Telangana, the party would have come to power. He concluded by stating that Jaipal Reddy never chased positions; they came to him naturally.
