Shadnagar, a town located 48 km south of Hyderabad, is known for its economic and educational progress. However, the Government Junior College in Shad Nagar Constituency tells a different story. The college, which is responsible for educating 772 male and female students, is in a state of neglect.

The college is facing several issues under the leadership of Principal MA Rauf, who has been on deputation since 2021. The buildings, some of which are decades old, are in poor condition. The college premises are unkempt and lack proper maintenance. There is also a shortage of attendants to take care of the surroundings.

Moreover, the college lacks essential amenities. There is a scarcity of drinking water, frequent short circuits due to inadequate electrical infrastructure, and unhygienic restroom conditions. The in-charge principal, Kursia Begum, has even used personal funds to address urgent needs due to the dire financial situation.

The absence of a regular principal for three years raises concerns about the overall management and supervision of the college. There are also issues with newly constructed rooms that lack flooring, overgrown bushes that attract snakes, and a generally dilapidated state of the premises.

The local community, students, and parents are dissatisfied with the neglect the college has experienced under the previous government. They have high expectations from the newly elected MLA of Shadnagar, Veerlapalli Shankar, to address these pressing issues. Urgent modernization and resource allocation are needed to improve the educational standards of the college.

It is crucial for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to pay special attention to the Shadnagar Government Junior College as he takes strong measures for intermediate exams. The plea for rejuvenating the college building and its resources extends to Shadnagar industrialists, celebrities, and academics. Collective efforts are needed to secure a better future for the students in this educational institution.
