Hyderabad: The State government has issued a new ordinance for HYDRA, which was approved by Governor Jishnu Dev Verma on Saturday.
This new ordinance is known as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024. It introduces section 374-B, which gives the government the power to appoint any officer, agency, or authority to use the powers of the Corporation and its commissioner. This is meant to help protect public assets such as roads, drains, public streets, water bodies, open spaces, and public parks.
The ordinance explains that changes to the GHMC Act of 1955 were necessary. These changes allow the Commissioner of the Corporation to hire specialized agencies to respond to disasters and protect public assets.
