The Telangana Teaching Government Doctors’ Association in Hyderabad is demanding transfers, payment of PRC arrears, and solutions to problems in peripheral colleges. If the government does not address their demands, they have threatened to hold a ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ rally. The association recently held a meeting where teaching doctors from assistant professors to additional DM-level officers from all 25 medical colleges in the state attended. During the meeting, the doctors discussed their problems and expressed their dissatisfaction with the system that only increases pressure on them instead of solving their issues.
The association leaders emphasized that the government needs to respond promptly to transfers, PRC arrears, and problems in peripheral colleges. If not, they will plan a special action program to address these problems while maintaining unity among the doctors. Dr. Anwar, the association president, suggested that in monthly review meetings, the focus should not only be on targets but also on discussing doctors’ problems.
Dr. Anwar also highlighted that Telangana has the best health statistics in the country, thanks to the collective efforts of all doctors. However, despite assurances from Health Minister T Harish Rao last year, many issues remained unresolved, causing disappointment among the members. Following the all-member meeting, it was decided that if the government does not respond within a specified week, they will organize a ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ rally with over 5,000 doctors.
The meeting was attended by various association members, including Dr. Jalagam Tirupati Rao, Dr. Kiran Madala, Dr. Pratibha Lakshmi, Dr. Kiran Prakash, Dr. L Ramesh, Dr. Babu, and more than 200 other members.
