Government to Provide Contract Appointments for DSC-2008 Candidates

The State Advocate-General (A-G) A. Sudarshan Reddy informed the High Court on Monday about a major decision taken by the government. He addressed a division bench of Justices Abhinand Kumar Shavili and E. Tirumala Devi, stating that the government will extend contract appointment benefits to 1,382 candidates who were unsuccessful in the DSC-2008 recruitment exam. This decision aligns with court directions issued in response to petitions filed by individuals like Pathuri Uma Maheshwar Reddy, Pasula Srinivasa Goud, and Amarlinga Chary.

The A-G explained that the issue was thoroughly reviewed by a Cabinet Sub-Committee set up through Government Order (GO) 292, dated February 24, 2024. This committee carefully examined records related to the recruitment process for DSC-2008 before approving the appointment of these candidates as contract teachers. The committee’s decision ensures that the recruitment process for the unsuccessful candidates is fair and transparent.

Reddy further clarified that the appointment orders will be issued soon. However, this process will begin only after the Model Code of Conduct is lifted. The code is currently in effect due to the biennial elections for the Legislative Councils in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana from the Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies.
