    Delhi Development Minister Gopal Rai recently chaired the first meeting of the newly formed Animal Welfare Board at the Delhi Secretariat. The purpose of this board is to work towards the betterment of animals in Delhi. It consists of 27 members from various categories.

    The main focus of the board is to prevent and address animal cruelty in Delhi. To achieve this, they have decided to set up 5 mobile vans for animal treatment and 5 diagnostic centers equipped with necessary equipment for animal health checks.

    During the meeting, Gopal Rai emphasized that the Animal Welfare Board’s role is to ensure strict compliance with animal welfare laws in Delhi, assist organizations involved in this work, and provide guidance when needed. The meeting was attended by representatives from SPCA, Gaushalas, and the Animal Welfare Board of India, as well as MLA Somdutt and Bandana Kumari, who are actively involved in animal welfare in the state, and officials from the concerned department.

    The board’s primary goal is to prevent suffering among all living beings and develop a comprehensive plan for their well-being. It will work towards strict enforcement of animal welfare laws in Delhi and provide financial and technical support, along with guidelines, to organizations involved in animal welfare work in the 11 districts of Delhi. The board will continue to operate as a governing body for these initiatives.
