Ashadam Golconda Bonalu, a traditional festival celebrated in the month of Ashadam, commenced on Sunday with the Bonam festival taking place at the Golconda Jagadambika Yellamma temple. The temple trust board chairman, Arella Jagadeesh, and Shrinivas Rajulu supervised the arrangements for the festival. As part of the Bonam festival, around 20 villages in various districts of the city contribute their offerings. The processions from Langar House to Golconda are grandly conducted. Welcoming the devotees who bring their offerings, welcome stages are set up. The festival is being celebrated without any untoward incidents and strict security measures have been put in place, as informed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the south and west zones, Kiran Kharatkar.
In order to ensure the smooth conduct of the Bonalu festival, Ministers Indrakaran Reddy and Thalasani Srinivas Yadav have given instructions. The festival arrangements and management were reviewed by Deputy Speaker, Ministers, government officials, MLAs, MLCs, Mayors, Deputy Mayors, and others at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar secretariat. The officials have been directed to provide guidance to the authorities involved in the organization of the Bonalu festival. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has declared the Bonalu festival as a state festival and announced special funds for it. The festival will be conducted in a grand manner by utilizing these funds. As per protocol, Deputy Speaker, Ministers, government officials, MLAs, MLCs, Mayors, Deputy Mayors, and others will present clothes to the temples in 26 temples.
Secunderabad Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu will be celebrated on July 9th and Hyderabad Old City Bonalu will be celebrated on July 16th. Ministers have been informed about the arrangements made for the festivals. Special financial aid has been provided to the temple committees and officials for the arrangements made before the start of the festivals. The temple committees and officials have been instructed to make necessary arrangements. Cooling arrangements and water facilities should be provided at the temples. The temples should be decorated beautifully with lights and electrical decorations. Cultural programs with special performances should be organized at various temples under the supervision of the Department of Culture. Laser shows and extensive publicity should be done to highlight the uniqueness of the Bonalu festival in various districts for the convenience of devotees. Orders have been given to the I&PR and Tourism departments to ensure that Deputy Speaker Anil Kumar, Hyderabad Collector Amoy Kumar, officials from the Endowments department, Tourism department, Information department, and other branches attend the event.
The festival is being celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion, with devotees from different parts of the city participating in the festivities.
