Customs officials at the Hyderabad international airport seized over 1 kg of gold collectively worth more than Rs 65 lakh in two separate cases on Tuesday. The Customs Air Intelligence officers intercepted a male passenger who arrived from Dubai and found three capsules of gold in paste form weighing 840 gm (approximately Rs 51.24 lakh value) concealed in his rectum based on passenger profiling. The passenger was arrested according to the Indian Customs Act, 1962. In another case, another passenger arriving from Dubai was caught with two gold bars weighing 233 grams (approximate value Rs 14.23 lakh) concealed between Tuna Fish oil tins kept in the check-in bags. Further investigation is underway.
