Kothagudem: The Godavari River flood level crossed the danger mark of 51.50 feet on Tuesday at 8 AM. If the water level reaches 53 feet, officials will issue a third warning.
Officials have alerted all mandal officers and set up control rooms at the Sub Collector’s office and ITDA office. District Collector Jitesh V Patil is closely monitoring the situation and giving orders to the officers.
Floodwaters are rising very slowly, and forecasts suggest they might cross the danger level soon. Officers are staying vigilant and continuously updating mandal officers. They have instructed officers to immediately move families from villages close to the Godavari River to safer places. Buffer stocks are also being maintained at all mandal headquarters.
There has been no rain in the upper catchment areas, which has helped prevent severe flooding this time.
The District Collector is monitoring the situation and has alerted people in low-lying areas to move immediately. Two NDRF teams have been arranged to handle any emergency in the agency villages. He reassured the public not to panic as the government is taking all necessary measures.
Road connectivity from Bhadrachalam to all agency mandals has been cut off due to the floods. The RTC has stopped its services for the past two days because of floodwater on the roads.
Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy is overseeing the situation via phone and has directed district officers to identify flood-affected areas and immediately move people to safety.
