Hyderabad: BJP OBC Morcha National President, Dr. K. Laxman, has strongly condemned the police lathi-charge on Group-I aspirants. He stated that this incident shows the anti-student and anti-unemployed attitude of the Congress-led state government.

On Friday, Dr. Laxman demanded that the government scrap GO No. 29. He said this order goes against the spirit of the Constitution and does not align with reservation policies. The order sets a fixed ratio of 1:150 for candidates who cleared the Group-I preliminary exam to qualify for the final stage. He also pointed out that the state government did not implement reservations in the Group-I preliminary exam, leading to 31,382 candidates qualifying under the general category for only 563 vacant posts. This, according to him, harms students from reserved categories.

Dr. Laxman further explained that, under usual norms, 50 BC (Backward Class) candidates should be called for every one BC vacant position. For example, if there are 100 BC reservation positions, 5,000 BC candidates should be invited for the Group-I mains. This ensures that more BC candidates have a fair chance of qualifying. However, he said that GO No. 29 violates these norms and negatively affects BC candidates. He also mentioned that this order is unfair to other reserved groups, such as SC (Scheduled Castes), ST (Scheduled Tribes), EWS (Economically Weaker Sections), and physically challenged candidates.

Moreover, Dr. Laxman criticized the state government for forcing differently-abled individuals to compete with general category candidates. He argued that this approach undermines job opportunities for disabled individuals.

Dr. Laxman stated that the Congress government’s decision is denying equal justice to various categories. He explained that each category is being forced to compete with different ratios for Group-I posts. For instance, while 40 BC candidates might qualify for one BC post, only 30 SC candidates and 20 ST candidates qualify for their respective posts. He emphasized that this system is preventing candidates in reserved categories from fully benefiting from reservations.

In conclusion, Dr. Laxman accused the state government of deliberately creating controversies around the Group-I appointments. He claimed that the government is trying to push the matter into courts to delay the appointments further.
