    GMR Aero Technic, the MRO division of GMR Air Cargo and Aerospace Engineering Limited (GACAEL), has launched the GMR Aviation School in collaboration with Airbus at Wings India 2024. The school is located at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad, and offers a four-year AME programme and type training. It is certified by the DGCA and the EASA and is the first institution in India to offer a combined B1.1 and B2 Aircraft Maintenance Engineering licensing programme.

    Airbus will provide courseware, examination databases, and access to the Airbus Competence Training (ACT) for Academy media package. They will also assess and qualify GMR instructors.

    Ashok Gopinath, President and Accountable Manager of GMR Aero Technic, said that the GMR School of Aviation will be a global benchmark and center of excellence in aviation education. It will make students future-ready for the growing aviation industry.

    Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia, emphasized that the partnership with GMR will support the MRO industry in India and generate qualified maintenance experts.

    Eligible students who have completed their 10+2 examinations with physics, chemistry, and mathematics can enroll in the courses. Admission is determined through an entrance examination with a minimum score requirement of 65%. The EASA program includes two years of academic training followed by two years of on-the-job training at GMR Aero Technic.

    The GMR School of Aviation aims to create job opportunities in the aviation sector and contribute to India’s self-reliance in aviation.
