    NagarKurnool: As directed by the State High Court, the District Legal Services Authority and the Women Empowerment Organization held an awareness program. This program was about laws that protect women. It took place at the Government Science Degree College in Nagar Kurnool district.

    Sabitha, the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, was the chief guest at the event. She emphasized the importance of women knowing their legal rights.

    The program covered various rights provided by the Constitution. It explained the important role of women in society and laws related to dowry. The consequences of demanding additional dowry were also discussed. Sabitha highlighted the penalties for harassment over dowry.

    She also talked about the POCSO Act, which allows for filing cases against sexual offenses on girls under 18 years of age.

    The Constitution grants equal property rights to all siblings, both brothers and sisters. It was made clear that giving or taking dowry is illegal. Marriages should only happen when girls are 18 and boys are 21, ensuring they are mentally and physically mature.

    Sabitha stressed that children must take care of their parents in old age. Parents have the right to revoke a will if their children don’t care for them properly.

    The program was attended by College Principal Kamar Shahjahan Sultana, Women Empowerment Organization Coordinator Swetha, Madhusudhan Rao, Shyam Prasad Rao, Pavan Shesha Sai, and several staff members including Keshav Reddy, Deepika, Raju, and Balraju.
