The Justice Chandra Ghose Commission is looking into issues with the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages of the Kaleshwaram irrigation project. They are gathering evidence to question responsible leaders.
Fourteen irrigation officials were questioned on Monday and asked to submit affidavits by July 16. The Commission received the CAG report on the project and will decide on summoning leaders after reviewing the evidence. Representatives from the contract agency also appeared before the Commission.
To investigate further damage at the barrages, the Commission requested affidavits from the government on construction and maintenance. They are waiting for reports from the Vigilance and Enforcement Department and the National Dam Safety Authority.
A meeting was held with an expert committee to gather additional information on the barrages. The Commission will work with the State Finance wing to understand alleged corruption in the Kaleshwaram lift scheme and may meet with State CAG officials for clarification.
