The State government of Telangana has decided to extend the term of the Commission of Inquiry led by Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose. The extension will last for two more months, starting from September 1 and ending on October 31.
This Commission was set up to investigate the damage that occurred to the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla Barrages, which are part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).
The decision to extend the Commission’s tenure was announced through an order issued by Secretary of Irrigation, Rahul Bojja, on Saturday. The extension was granted because the Commission requested more time to complete its investigation.
Currently, the Commission is reviewing affidavits submitted by various engineers from the Irrigation department and others involved in the project. These documents cover all aspects of the barrages, including their investigation, planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
