Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took on a project to improve 13 junctions in the city to better manage traffic and infrastructure. So far, only four junctions have been completed, while work on the others is still ongoing.

The GHMC aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian comfort with this project. A total of Rs 31.16 crore was allocated for the revamp of these junctions in 2022. The plan includes widening junctions, developing traffic islands, installing bollards, and creating central medians, dividers, and free lefts. Additionally, greenery and sculptures will be added to enhance pedestrian-friendly facilities.

Among the completed junctions are Somajiguda, Miyapur ‘X’ road, Krishna Kunj Junction, and IDPL Junction. Works are still in progress at five other junctions, such as Habsiguda Junction, Kothapet Junction, Punjagutta Junction, Narayanaguda Junction, and Sangeeth Junction. GHMC Commissioner D Ronald Rose has instructed officials to propose tenders for the remaining junction improvements.
