Hyderabad: A Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) worker was killed in a road accident on Wednesday. The accident occurred near the Sagar Hotel in Shapur Nagar, Jeedimetla, when a private bus hit him as he was crossing the road.

The worker, identified as Hari Krishna, was the sanitary in-charge at GHMC Circle-23. Unfortunately, he died on the spot due to his injuries.

After the incident, other GHMC workers gathered at the scene and blocked the road in protest. They demanded strict action against the bus driver and financial compensation (ex-gratia) for the victim. The workers also called for financial support for Hari Krishna’s family.

The Jeedimetla police arrived at the scene and managed to calm the protesters. They took the victim’s body to the mortuary. A case has been registered, and the police have started an investigation into the accident.

This is not the first such accident. Last month, on September 21, a 32-year-old woman named R. Jyothi was killed in Medchal after being run over by a lorry while crossing the road. A few days earlier, on September 18, another woman, Neeta, was killed when a lorry carrying gas cylinders struck her in Nacharam.
