The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took action on Wednesday morning, December 18, to clear illegal structures along both sides of the Laxmiguda Jalpally road. These structures were removed to ensure the safety of pedestrians, as the road had become unsafe for them to walk on.
To carry out the demolition smoothly, a large number of police officers were stationed in the area to maintain order. The GHMC had earlier informed shopkeepers that their illegal sheds would be taken down and requested them to remove the structures voluntarily.
Despite the warning, only a few shopkeepers complied with the request. As a result, bulldozers were brought in to demolish the remaining sheds and other unauthorized structures that were encroaching on the pavements.
This action was taken after local residents raised complaints. They reported that the illegal structures were blocking the road and creating a hazard for people walking in the area. The Laxmiguda Jalpally road is an important route connecting Mailardevpally to the Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) Airport, making it essential to keep it clear and safe for everyone.
