Hyderabad: The GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi raised the national flag at the GHMC head office on Tuesday. This event was a part of the Praja Palana Day celebrations. Mayor Vijayalakshmi was joined by GHMC Commissioner Amrapali Kata and other senior officials.
During the ceremony, the Mayor highlighted the significance of September 17. She explained that this day marks the moment when the people of Telangana, who had longed for freedom since India’s Independence, finally freed themselves from royal rule. She also emphasized that Telangana has become a model state for self-governance in India. The state is known for its development projects, welfare programs, planning for economic growth, and efforts to make government services more accessible to its citizens.
Several key officials attended the event, including Zonal Commissioners Apoorva Chauhan and Hemant Keshav Patil, Additional Commissioners Yadagiri Rao, Nalini Padmavathi, and Pankaja Saroja, as well as other senior officers from various departments. Among them were CCP Srinivas, Additional CCP Gangadhar, Vigilance Additional SP Srinivas, ACP Sudarshan, and Joint Commissioners Uma Prakash, Jayant, and Mahesh Kulkarni. Other notable attendees included Chief Entomologist Dr. Rambabu and SE Ratnakar.
