GHMC creates 534 teams to tackle water-logging during monsoon season

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has formed 534 monsoon emergency teams in the city to help with water-logging, inundation, and traffic issues during the rainy season. These teams will respond to rain-related complaints and consist of static teams, mini-mobile teams, and emergency mobile teams.

Among the 534 teams, there are 157 mobile teams, 242 static teams, 29 teams on CRMP roads, 30 teams on DRF, 13 police department teams, 41 electricity department teams, and 22 water works teams. The GHMC has also taken preventive measures to address departmental challenges without inconveniencing citizens.

To prevent waterlogging, GHMC officials have directed the cleaning and maintenance of sewage lines, stormwater drains, and roads. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has held meetings with relevant departments to review and implement preemptive measures for the rainy season.

The emergency teams will have the necessary tools to pump out water, clear clogged drains, and remove obstacles like uprooted trees. Efforts are being made to reduce water stagnation points across the city and address water logging points urgently.

During heavy rainfall, people are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and contact the GHMC call centre in case of emergencies. GHMC is committed to ensuring the well-being of citizens and minimizing the impact of heavy rainfall by addressing potential challenges proactively.
