GHMC Commissioner Surveys Areas Impacted by Heavy Rains

Hyderabad experienced heavy rains on Tuesday, leading to waterlogged roads, flooded colonies, and several uprooted trees across the city. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner, Amrapali Kata, quickly took action to address the situation in the affected areas.

The GHMC, along with the Disaster Response Force (DRF), issued an alert advising people to stay indoors for their safety. On Tuesday, the DRF received numerous complaints and managed to resolve 30 cases of fallen trees. They also cleared 158 waterlogged spots and dealt with a collapsed wall in Basheerbagh.

Commissioner Amrapali Kata directed field officials to stay vigilant and ensure that waterlogged areas were cleared quickly. She personally visited several areas, including Mehdipatnam, Attapur, Gudimalkapur, Vijaya Nagar Colony, and Masab Tank, to inspect the waterlogging issues. She assured residents that steps were being taken to prevent further problems during the ongoing rains.

Later in the day, Commissioner Kata held a teleconference with the Additional and Zonal Commissioners. She instructed them to visit waterlogged points and emphasized the importance of preventing accidents due to waterlogging. She also ordered the installation of barricades, warning boards, and nighttime lighting at ongoing civic works to enhance safety.

GHMC officials and disaster management teams were put on high alert, and residents were advised to avoid going outdoors unless absolutely necessary. The GHMC urged residents to report any emergencies to the helpline numbers 040-21111111 or 9000113667.
