Hyderabad: K Ilambarithi, the newly appointed Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), has instructed officials to focus on illegal constructions in the city. He emphasized the need for special attention to this issue.
The Commissioner participated in the Prajavani programme at the GHMC head office on Monday. During the event, he assured citizens that their concerns would be addressed. Ilambarithi urged the authorities to take the initiative in solving public problems.
He stated that the primary goal of Prajavani is to help people. The Commissioner also insisted that department heads (HODs) must attend the programme. Most of the complaints received, he noted, are related to the Town Planning Department, urging officials to take strong measures to control illegal constructions.
Ilambarithi directed officials to hold monthly review meetings with Deputy Commissioners (DCs), section officers, and town planning officers. He also instructed the Chief City Planner (CCP) to review other matters. Additionally, he emphasized that all complaints received during Prajavani should be properly recorded in the computer, sorted by department. The legal officer was asked to review ongoing court cases.
The Commissioner further stressed the importance of regularly reviewing issues related to birth and death certificates, as well as other matters concerning the Health Department. He also asked the Chief Veterinary Officer to provide details of complaints and reports on sterilized dogs, organized by center.
Several senior officials, including Additional Commissioners Shiva Kumar Naidu, Raghu Prasad, Nalini Padmavathi Satyanarayana, Chandrakant Reddy, Pankaja, and Yadagiri Rao, were present at the meeting. Other notable attendees included CE Bhaskar Reddy, CCP Srinivas, Additional CCP Gangadhar, Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Abdul Vakil, and Chief Entomologist Dr. Rambabu.
