    GHMC chief urges faster issuance of senior citizen ID cards in the city

    GHMC Chief Urges Quick Issuance of Senior Citizen ID Cards

    Hyderabad: The Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), K Ilambarithi, has instructed officials to issue senior citizen identity cards without delay. He stressed the importance of ensuring that elderly citizens receive their ID cards as quickly as possible.

    During the Prajavani programme held at the GHMC headquarters on Monday, the Commissioner listened to public grievances and provided necessary instructions to officials. A total of 194 complaints were received at the Prajavani public hearing, both at the GHMC headquarters and in all GHMC circles.

    At the GHMC headquarters alone, 82 complaints were registered. The Town Planning Department received the most complaints (46), followed by 5 in Sanitation, 4 each in the Tax and Health departments, and 3 each in the Engineering (Maintenance) and Administration departments. Other departments, such as Finance, Electrical, Land Acquisition, and Housing, also received a few complaints.

    Additionally, a Prajavani phone-in programme received six requests, which were forwarded to the concerned departments for action. Across six GHMC zones, 112 applications were submitted. Kukatpally zone recorded the highest number of complaints (51), followed by Secunderabad (27), LB Nagar (13), Serilingampally (12), Charminar (8), and Khairtabad (1).

    The Commissioner stressed the need to resolve complaints quickly, especially those related to senior citizen ID cards. He urged officials to prioritize these tasks and ensure there were no unnecessary delays. He also called for a swift resolution of issues related to various departments.

    Several senior GHMC officials attended the meeting, including Additional Commissioners Shiva Kumar Naidu, Geetha Radhika, Pankaja, Raghu Prasad, and others. Officials from departments such as Veterinary, Water Works, Irrigation, and Revenue were also present.

    Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Disaster Response, Assets Monitoring, and Protection Agency (HYDRA) received 46 complaints during its public grievance programme on Monday.
