The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) used to be active on social media and would respond quickly to complaints. However, they have now become unresponsive. Even Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has stopped responding to public complaints on social media. This has left the public frustrated as their grievances are going unattended.
Previously, when people raised complaints on social media, they could directly connect with GHMC officers instead of going through other channels. This made it easier for them to get their issues resolved. Nowadays, netizens are unable to connect with the concerned department and officers for their complaints.
Many citizens raise their grievances on social media, particularly on a platform called ‘X’. They tag the Mayor, GHMC, Ministers, and public representatives while raising the issue. In the past, these higher authorities would respond and direct officers to solve the problems quickly. However, now they are no longer proactive, and the issues remain unresolved.
Despite having digital platforms like the GHMC app, an online grievance redressal system, the X app, and a helpline, the GHMC has failed to meet people’s expectations in the last month. Only a few issues are being addressed by the officials through continuous tagging, while the majority go unattended. Higher authorities, including Ministers, Mayor, and GHMC commissioners, are not responding.
Many complaints are pending with GHMC on social media, and the concerned officers are not responding as they used to. When citizens visit the division or zonal office, there are no senior officers present to address their issues.
In some cases, officials are misleading netizens who raise issues online. They claim that the problems have been solved when, in reality, they haven’t been resolved.
The GHMC officers are deceiving citizens and showing a lackadaisical attitude towards their duties. Hundreds of issues are raised daily, and the officers falsely claim that they have been resolved. This clearly indicates that the officers are not performing their duties and are misleading their superiors. Action should be taken against these lazy and fraudulent staff members.
