The Telangana Universities Non-Teaching Employees Association (TUNTEA) recently held a general body meeting at Osmania University. The meeting covered various topics including the current political situation of non-teaching employees, the challenges they face, the impact of the new education system, the role of trade unions, organizing employees, planning for collective action, implementing the old pension scheme, and regularizing contract and outsourcing employees.
One of the resolutions passed during the meeting was the recommendation that both the Central and State governments allocate 6 percent of their budgets to education. Additionally, TUNTEA members expressed the need to urgently fill teaching and non-teaching job vacancies in universities, safeguard government universities, and establish an Employee Health Scheme (EHS) for employees.
