The 104th convocation of the bachelor of technology course took place at MCEME on Sunday. Gen. Manoj Pande, the chief guest, addressed the cadets and reminded them of their responsibilities and opportunities. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and physical and mental strength. He also encouraged them to be role models for the nation. The chief guest congratulated the award winners and the parents of the graduating officers.
During the convocation, B Tech degrees were conferred to 33 officers, including foreign officers from the Royal Bhutan Army and Sri Lankan Army. Senior officers, dignitaries, and proud parents of the graduating officers were present at the event. Lt-Gen JS Sidana, commandant of MCEME, welcomed the chief guest and highlighted the significance of this milestone for the young officers of the DE-104 and TES-42 courses.
In the DE-104 course, Capt. Nirmal Singh received the DGEME Trophy for being the best all-round officer and the DGEME Gold Medal for achieving the highest overall merit. Capt. Raghav Sharma was awarded the commandant’s silver medal for excelling in the mechanical stream. In the TES-40 course, Lt. Sudhir Kumar Tiwary was recognized as the best all-round officer and received the GOC-in-C, ARTRAC Trophy. Lt. Preet Choudhary stood first in the mechanical stream and was awarded the commandant’s silver medal.
The ceremony concluded with a display of projects created by the officers, showcasing innovative solutions to challenges faced by the Army. These projects were highly appreciated by the guests. After the convocation, Lt Gen Sidana briefed COAS about the campuswide Wi-fi network and the virtual maintenance training lab for the light combat helicopter.
MCEME is a premier technical training institute of the Army that offers various courses for officers and other ranks. The B Tech course is the flagship course of the college, where regular officers and those from the Technical Entry Scheme pursue their degree.
