A 35-day journey called the ‘Go Dhwaj Establishment Bharat Yatra’ will arrive in Hyderabad on October 9. The purpose of this yatra is to pressurize the government to declare the cow as the “mother of the nation” and to strengthen the enforcement of existing laws protecting cows. The yatra is led by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand and will travel across the country, starting from Ayodhya on September 22 and ending in Delhi on October 26.
During this journey, the yatra will visit the capital cities of all Indian states, where a symbolic ‘Go Dhwaj’ (cow flag) will be established. At each capital, large conferences will be held to honor cows and raise awareness about their importance. The yatra will pass through all regions of India—east, west, south, and north—before concluding in the national capital. In Delhi, Shankaracharya will also honor cow devotees from across the country who have shown dedication to the cause.
Mukundanand Maharaj, a representative of Shankaracharya from Amnaya Peetham, Uttarakhand, spoke to the media about the event. He highlighted that the native Indian cow breed, known as the Rama cow, had a population of 70 crore at the time of India’s independence but has now dwindled to just 17 crore. He stressed that foreign breeds such as Jersey and crossbreeds cannot be considered pure, while the pure Indian breeds are now endangered.
