Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has opened two gates of the Osman Sagar reservoir. This was done to release 242 cusecs of water into the Musi River. Additionally, one gate of the Himayat Sagar reservoir was opened to release 348 cusecs of water.

Officials from the HMWSSB explained that recent rains have caused a large amount of floodwater to fill the Gandipet reservoir, bringing it to its full water level. To manage this, on Wednesday, two gates of Osman Sagar were lifted to release excess water downstream. Similarly, the Himayat Sagar reservoir has also reached its full capacity, prompting the authorities to lift one gate and release 348 cusecs of water.
