Gadwal district’s young talent, Akkala Priyanka, has been selected for the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Overseas Education Scheme. She is the daughter of a handloom worker, Akkala Shantharam. Under this scheme, she will get the opportunity to pursue higher education abroad. Priyanka is one of 60 students from backward classes (BC) in Telangana chosen for postgraduate studies in foreign universities.

With the support of Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, Priyanka secured admission to a two-year Master of Science course in New York. To help her complete her education, the Telangana government will provide a ₹20 lakh scholarship under this scheme.

Priyanka expressed her gratitude for this opportunity. She said that the scheme is a great help for students from underprivileged backgrounds like hers. Coming from a family that depends on traditional weaving, studying abroad would have been impossible without this support. She sincerely thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy for making her dream come true.
