Gadwal: A New Master Plan with Drone Survey Underway
Gadwal District Collector, B.M. Santosh, has announced that a new master plan for Gadwal Municipality is being created through a detailed drone survey. This initiative is aimed at improving the town’s infrastructure and planning for the future.
On Tuesday, a special event was held at the Collectorate to launch the drone survey. Municipal Chairperson B.S. Keshavalu, along with municipal officials and officers from the Survey of India, were present for the inauguration. The event was supervised by officials from the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP). A ceremonial puja was performed to mark the beginning of the drone survey.
During the event, Collector Santosh explained that this master plan is a part of a broader development initiative. The plan will help address key challenges in the municipality and ensure that the city’s infrastructure is well-prepared for future needs. He added that the information gathered will be stored in digital form for future use. Gadwal is one of 20 municipalities in Telangana selected for this GIS-based planning under the central government’s AMRUT 2.0 scheme.
Collector Santosh also shared that advanced technology, including drone cameras, will be used to create a detailed master plan for the town. The drone will collect data from different sections of the municipality, creating base maps with clear visual documentation. This precise mapping will help in analyzing buildings, roads, water resources, parks, and sewage systems, making it easier to maintain and develop these areas through integrated planning.
After the launch, the collector and his team reviewed the drone survey process on a computer. They learned how the drone covers the entire municipality, processes the data, and how the insights can be used for future planning. The collector expressed confidence that this digital master plan would greatly contribute to the development of Gadwal town.
The event was attended by DTCP Additional Director Ramesh Babu, Municipal Commissioner Dasharath, Town Planning Officer Kurmanna, officials from the Survey of India, and other municipal staff.
