Telangana gained independence on September 17, 1948, after the end of British rule in India, according to G Kishan Reddy, the Union Tourism Minister and BJP State president. Reddy made this statement while speaking at Amaradhamam in Parkal. He criticized the Congress and the BRS for distorting the history of Telangana. Reddy also mentioned the Razakar militia, led by Kasim Razvi, which caused havoc in the region during the Nizam regime. It was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who conducted Operation Polo, bringing an end to the autocratic rule and freeing the people of Telangana from oppression.
