Four new additional judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court were sworn in by Governor S Abdul Nazeer at a ceremony in Vijayawada. The four judges are Harinath Nunepally, Kiranmayee Mandava, Sumathi Jagadam, and Nyapathy Vijay. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and High Court Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur also attended the ceremony.
The appointment of these additional judges was notified by the President of India on October 18, after consulting with the Chief Justice of India. Currently, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has 27 judges, although its sanctioned strength is 37. With the inclusion of these four new judges, the total number of judges in the High Court has now reached 30.
In addition to the appointment of new judges, there have also been some transfers. Justices C Manavendranath Roy and Duppala Venkata Ramana of the AP High Court have been transferred to Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, respectively. Justice Narendra G of Karnataka High Court has been transferred to Andhra Pradesh.
Before the swearing-in ceremony, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy met with the Governor at the Raj Bhavan.
