Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Special Operations Team from Balanagar zone, along with the Bachupally police, arrested four people for damaging a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Lake View Colony of Pragathinagar.

The arrested individuals are Koppadi Naveen, Varalakshmi Narasimha, Tannaru Brahmaiah, and Koorala Praveen. All of them live in 191 Colony, which is within the Bachupally jurisdiction.

According to the police, the Gandhi statue was damaged on the night of November 4 by unidentified people. A local resident, Jagga Madhu Sudhan Reddy, filed a complaint, prompting the police to register a case and begin an investigation.

On Thursday, the police acted quickly and arrested the four suspects. The investigation revealed that the suspects used to gather near the statue at night to drink alcohol. After the Gandhi statue was installed, they felt it disrupted their usual activities, leading them to vandalize it out of frustration.
