Former ZPTC Criticizes BRS Over Telangana Talli Statue
Former ZPTC Venkat Ram Reddy has criticized the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for its stance on the Telangana Talli statue. Speaking at a press conference at the MLA camp office in Shadnagar on Tuesday, he stated that the BRS has no right to comment on the matter.
Venkat Ram Reddy pointed out that statues of Telangana Talli, which were installed before the Telangana movement, are still in place. However, he accused the BRS government of neglecting these statues throughout its ten-year rule. He further claimed that the party did not make any effort to install new statues anywhere in the state.
The former ZPTC elaborated that the design of the Telangana Talli statue was created to reflect the cultural identity of Telangana. He said it was installed based on suggestions from the public, intellectuals, and poets. He also praised Revanth Reddy for resigning from his position during the Telangana movement to support the cause.
Venkat Ram Reddy highlighted the contributions of Jupally Krishna Rao and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who were ministers at the time. He noted that they resigned from their positions to play significant roles in the fight for a separate Telangana state. He also acknowledged Sonia Gandhi’s critical role in granting statehood to Telangana, despite knowing it could politically harm the Congress Party.
In addition, he mentioned that the Telangana government has recognized the contributions of nine poets, writers, and artists in the state. As a gesture of appreciation, these individuals are being provided with 300 square yards of housing plots in Future City, along with financial assistance of Rs. 1 crore.
