In Rangareddy, the Forest Department has started a tree-planting campaign in Malkapur village, Shamshabad mandal. This is part of a larger “clean and green drive” initiative by the State government, aimed at improving the environment.
Many areas in Rangareddy district have not received much rain this year. Official data shows that six out of 27 mandals in the district, including Shamshabad, Gandipet, Rajendranagar, Balapur, Ibrahimpatnam, and Yacharam, have had less rainfall than needed.
While 17 mandals have seen normal rainfall, only four have had more rain than usual. As of Wednesday, the total rainfall in the district was 259.5 mm, which is 5.3% less than the 721.9 mm recorded last year during the same period.
Collector K Shashanka and Rajendranagar MLA Prakash Goud joined the tree-planting event. They checked on the saplings planted by the Forest Department, and the Collector even watered some of them. He was particularly interested in the aromatic plants being grown, which can be used for making perfumes and medicines.
The Collector emphasized the importance of trees, saying they are essential for human survival and environmental health. He encouraged everyone to take responsibility for protecting plants, as they help bring rain and clean the air, which is vital for a healthy life.
