Hyderabad’s Streets Come Alive with Ramzan Delicacies
As the holy month of Ramzan nears its end, Hyderabad turns into a paradise for food lovers. The city’s streets fill with the rich aromas of delicious dishes, drawing crowds eager to break their fast with a grand feast. From the famous Hyderabadi Dum Biryani to the season’s special Haleem, there is an endless variety of food to enjoy. Popular dishes like kebabs, Tala Hua Gosht, Mutton Marag, Malai Paya, Warqi Paratha, and the well-loved Pathar-ka-Gosht attract hundreds of food enthusiasts.
Markets and food stalls stay open all night, pausing briefly after Sehri (pre-dawn meal) before resuming their busy service. The Old City, especially areas like City College, Hussaini Alam, Mallepally, Tolichowki, Lakdi-ka-Pul, Malakpet, and Banjara Hills, turns into a food festival. Families and friends gather to enjoy a variety of slow-cooked, grilled, and roasted dishes.
Sehri meals include hearty Bagara Khana and Keema, while Iftar features a lavish spread of Kebabs, Laccha Paratha, Haleem, and Arabian Ghava. As the sun sets around 7 PM, food stalls overflow with people enjoying Tangdi Kebab, Boti Kebab, Shami Kebab, Seekh Kebab, Mutton Kebab, Malai Kebab, Reshmi Kebab, Pathar-ka-Gosht, and Mutton Marag.
For 20 years, Mohammed Amjad of Al-Farooj Sonu Kebabs has been serving delicious food. “More people are dining out than ever, including non-Muslim families who love our gosht and kebabs,” he shared. The trend of eating out has grown, bringing people together over shared meals.
Food lovers eagerly wait for Ramzan to enjoy these special dishes. Akhlaq Ahmed, a devoted foodie, said, “Ramzan brings exclusive dishes we can’t resist—especially kebabs and Pathar-ka-Gosht.” Anita Neelam also praised the variety, noting that even vegetarian Haleem has become popular.
Some eateries have become legendary. Al-Akbar’s Chicken 65, Shahran’s Seekh Kebabs, Royal’s Fish, and Nayab’s Malai Paya and Keema-Gurda-Kaleji are among the top favorites.
Al-Farooj in Hussaini Alam is famous for its Mutton Marag and Pathar-ka-Gosht, while Tolichowki’s kebabs continue to be a crowd favorite.
As Hyderabad celebrates Ramzan, its food scene becomes a grand feast, bringing together people, traditions, and flavors that leave a lasting impression even after the month ends.
