Efforts to Boost Village Development and Self-Employment in Gadwal
The Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department (PR) Commissioner, Srujana, has announced plans to enhance self-employment opportunities and improve basic infrastructure in villages. Her statement was made during a visit to Itikyala Mandal in Gadwal district.
On Tuesday, Srujana attended a Gram Sabha meeting at the MPDO office as the chief guest. The event was part of the “Praja Palana Praja Vijayotsavalu” (Good Governance Public Celebrations) and Constitution Day programmes. During her address, she emphasized the importance of villages as the foundation of the Constitution and a key pillar of the country’s overall development.
The commissioner explained that Gram Sabhas are being conducted in every village to showcase the state government’s various schemes, initiatives, and achievements from the past year. She stressed the need to identify developmental projects that directly benefit farmers and rural residents. Srujana also called for better coordination among different departments to ensure these projects meet public needs effectively.
As part of village development, she highlighted initiatives such as setting up vermi compost pits, azolla pits, farm pathways, cattle sheds, and percolation pits. These efforts aim to improve agricultural productivity and create sustainable livelihoods for rural communities.
Earlier in the day, Srujana inaugurated a cattle shed constructed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and a vermi compost pit on the MPDO office premises. These projects are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen rural infrastructure and promote self-reliance in villages.
