Telangana Government Plans Major Bureaucratic Changes
A big change in Telangana’s bureaucracy is likely soon. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy wants senior officials who actively work on public service rather than staying in their offices.
The government is currently reviewing the performance of IAS officers, especially District Collectors and Secretaries. The Chief Minister has asked for a detailed report on how these officials are performing. He is reportedly unhappy with many Collectors, as they have not been able to properly implement government schemes or address public issues efficiently.
One major concern is the slow response to public grievances, especially during the ‘Prajavani’ programme, where people bring their problems to the government. Despite repeated instructions, many Collectors have not visited welfare residential schools, checked food quality, interacted with farmers, or helped underprivileged communities. Instead, they have mostly stayed in their offices, conducting internal reviews.
Reports also suggest that several Collectors are not living in their assigned districts. Instead, they travel daily from Hyderabad, which wastes valuable time that could be used for governance. Additionally, some officers have failed to respond quickly to emergencies on weekends, delaying important services for people in need.
To improve governance and public service delivery, the Chief Minister is planning a major reshuffle in the administration. The government is analyzing why some officials are not taking proactive steps in governance and decision-making. Financial issues have also slowed down some government programs, but the CM is determined to ensure that bureaucratic inefficiencies do not stop development.
With the Congress-led government focused on fulfilling its promises, a major overhaul of the bureaucracy seems certain. The goal is to improve efficiency, accountability, and service delivery for the people of Telangana.
