    Floodwaters submerge multiple areas in KHM town

    River Munneru in Khammam district is flooding and causing several colonies to be submerged. The district administration is working to relocate the residents to relief centers. The flood level in the river is at a dangerous level, reaching 30.7 feet at 5 pm. District Collector VP Gautham, Police Commissioner Vishnu S Warrier, and Assistant Collector Radhika Gupta are overseeing the relief operations.

    Despite alerts and appeals, some residents in the affected colonies have not moved to safety. Officials had to go through the floodwater to reach them and encourage them to evacuate. Around 50 people were provided shelter at Government Junior College and Nayabazar School in the city. Rescue teams were also deployed to help those stranded at a meditation center in Padmavathi Nagar. The affected areas include Venkateswara Nagar, Motinagar, Bokkalagadda, Jalagam Nagar, FCI area, and Danavaigudem.

    A control room has been set up with phone numbers 1077 and 9063211298 to assist the public. Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar and BRS district president, MLC Tata Madhusudhan have inspected the affected areas. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has called Ajay Kumar to inquire about the relief measures.

    Traffic on Munneru bridge has been stopped, causing traffic jams on the by-pass road. The water level in Palair and Wyra reservoirs is continuously rising. Transportation to several villages has been disrupted due to overflowing streams and tanks in many areas.
