The police in Hyderabad have arrested five men for robbing a man of ₹40,000 at knife-point. The gang tricked the victim using a dating app to lure him into a meeting.
The victim, who lives in Dabeerpura, had been chatting with someone on the app for about 30 minutes before being invited to meet in person. On January 19, he went to the agreed location in Gurvana Galli, Charminar. There, he was surrounded by five men: Syed Fahad Ali (22), Mohd Tauheed Uddin (22), Syed Roumaan Ullah Hussaini (21), Mohd Abdul Raouf (22), and Mohd Shoaib Khan (20).
The gang forced the victim to withdraw ₹40,000 from an ATM while holding him at knife-point. According to Police Inspector Rachakonda Ravinder, the gang had carefully planned the robbery. Tauheed’s phone was used by Roumaan to chat with the victim. Fahad Ali was the mastermind behind the plan, while Raouf withdrew the money. Shoaib Khan held the knife to threaten the victim.
After taking the cash, the gang escaped and warned the victim not to report the crime. However, the victim filed a complaint on February 1. The police investigated the case, tracked down the gang, and arrested them. They also recovered ₹18,500 from the accused.
