Fishermen in Jagtial protested against a corrupt officer by garlanding him with money. They accused the District Fisheries Officer, Damodar, of harassing them for bribes. The fishermen, led by Vallakonda Praveen, president of the District Fishery Industry Cooperative Association, spoke out against Damodar’s behavior during a public speaking program with Collector Sheikh Yasmin Basha. They claimed that they were forced to pay bribes for any work related to fishing societies and that Damodar was also threatening cooperative society directors. In response, the fishermen presented Damodar with a garland of notes around his neck. Although Damodar claimed that their actions were due to a rift among the fishermen, they persisted in their protest.
