The passing out parade (POP) at the Airmen Training School Belagavi in Karnataka on Saturday was a historic event for the Indian Air Force. It was the first time that 153 Agniveervayu (Women) marched alongside their male counterparts. A total of 2,280 Agniveervayu (Men and Women) trainees successfully completed 22 weeks of training.
The parade, which marked the completion of their Ab-initio training, took place at Airmen Training School Belagavi. Air Marshal R Radhish reviewed the parade and praised the trainees for their impressive drill and march past. He congratulated and felicitated the award winners for their outstanding performance in various fields.
The Air Marshal emphasized that new challenges were arising from the global security scenario. He urged the Agniveervayu to utilize the combat training and military preparedness they acquired during the 22 weeks to fulfill military objectives. He also encouraged them to continue enhancing their knowledge and skills and to maintain exemplary conduct at all times.
The Air Marshal expressed his appreciation for the parents of the Agniveervayu, recognizing their contribution to the country and for raising men and women of honor who are now part of the fourth largest Air Force in the world. This batch of Agniveervayu was inducted into the IAF on June 28 under the Agnipath scheme. The passing out parade marked the culmination of their basic military and stream-based training, which focused on physical training as well as intellectual and moral development.
The families of the young men and women who participated in the passing out parade also attended the momentous occasion.
