The Hirakud dam in Sambalpur will release the first flood water this season on July 23. The water level in the dam is rising and has reached 611.75 feet. To make space for more water in the coming days, the authorities will release water at 9 am on July 23. People living near the Mahanadi river are advised to be careful and take precautions as the water level will rise after the dam gates are opened.
