Virat Kohli, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), has become the first batter to score 7000 runs in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. He achieved this milestone during RCB’s match against Delhi Capitals. Kohli has played for RCB throughout his career and has appeared in 233 IPL games. Shikhar Dhawan, the captain of Punjab Kings, is second on the list with 6536 runs, followed by Delhi Capitals captain David Warner with 6189 runs and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma with 6063 runs.
Kohli has been in excellent form in IPL 2023, scoring 364 runs in nine games, including five fifties. Before the match against Delhi Capitals, he met his childhood coach and touched his feet as a sign of respect.
In the match, RCB won the toss and chose to bat first. They included Kedar Jadhav in their playing XI while Delhi Capitals named Mukesh Kumar and Mitchell Marsh. Mukesh replaced Anrich Nortje, who had returned home due to personal reasons.
