Wanaparthy District: Focus on Road Safety Measures

A video conference was held on Saturday afternoon with the State Road Transport Minister, followed by a review meeting with district officials to discuss road safety measures. The goal of the meeting was to create awareness about traffic rules and take steps to reduce road accidents in the district.

The transport department was instructed to prepare a daily schedule of programs to educate people about traffic rules. Engineers from the Roads, Buildings, and Panchayat Raj departments were asked to install speed breakers and put up signboards in 49 areas identified as accident-prone “black spots.” Dangerous turns in town roads were also ordered to be removed to improve safety.

Police and transport department officials were directed to increase enforcement by deploying more staff and imposing fines on those violating traffic rules. Violations such as not wearing helmets, driving above speed limits, driving in the wrong direction, and parking in no-parking zones would be strictly penalized. Additionally, it was suggested that individuals visiting the Collectorate and SP office without helmets should also face fines.
