Hyderabad: Man and Son Arrested for Drug Peddling
A man and his son were arrested by the Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) for drug smuggling in Balapur, Hyderabad. The officials seized 100 grams of heroin, cash, and mobile phones, all worth Rs 12 lakh.
The arrested individuals are Siddiq Shah, a 31-year-old cosmetics trader and drug peddler, and his father, Hanif Shah, a 65-year-old scrap dealer. Both are from Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh. Another drug dealer, Montu from Pratapgarh district in Rajasthan, is still on the run.
Police revealed that Hanif Shah initially started a cosmetics business with his son Siddiq. After the business failed, they turned to drug peddling as an alternative income source.
“The suspects admitted that drug peddling provided good income and they developed contacts with local drug peddlers. They established a connection with supplier Montu. The duo bought heroin at a low price and planned to sell it at a much higher price in Hyderabad,” said G. Sudheer Babu, Police Commissioner of Rachakonda.
