Farmers in Haryana are protesting for a second day to demand the minimum support price (MSP) for sunflower seeds. The protest has caused a road blockade on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway near Pipli. After two rounds of negotiations with the district administration failed, the farmers plan to discuss their next steps today.

On Tuesday, the farmers gathered again in Kurukshetra to call for the MSP. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said they have two demands: the central government’s promise to buy sunflower seeds at MSP and the release of detained farmers. Tikait and Balbir Singh Rajewal have pledged to support the decision made by local farmers.

Wrestler Bajrang Punia also showed his support by visiting the protest site at Pipli mandi on Monday. He questioned why farmers aren’t paid fairly for their labor and crops. Punia, who comes from a farming family, believes that the government should comply with the farmers’ demand for MSP.
