In Kodad, Suryapet, a review meeting was held by Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday for lift projects in Kodad and Huzurnagar constituencies. During the meeting, farmers expressed their frustration with authorities for neglecting lift repairs. They claimed that official data provided to the minister was incorrect and many lift schemes were not functioning properly.

In response to the farmers’ complaints, the Minister directed officials to address the issues promptly and requested that any need for funds be communicated to him. He instructed senior officials to regularly inspect the lifts and assigned them to monitor 10 lifts each. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of not causing inconvenience to farmers over minor problems.

Uttam acknowledged that lift projects had been neglected for the past decade and were now in need of repair. He assured that the government would take over the management of the projects for the benefit of farmers. Concerns were also raised about the lack of staff to manage lift schemes, prompting the Minister to announce the appointment of operators, watchmen, fitters, and electricians for each scheme as part of a pilot project.
