A rumour on social media about a possible flood in Vijayawada caused a lot of panic on Saturday night. The false information claimed that the Budameru dam had breached, leading many people to fear a flood.

Residents in areas like Ajit Singh Nagar, Payakapuram, and Kandrika were especially worried. Many rushed out of their homes in fear after hearing the fake news.

The local police, led by CI Krishnamohan, quickly took action. Officers went around the affected areas with loudspeakers, telling people not to believe the false reports. They also began investigating where the rumour started.

The Vijayawada Collector reassured everyone that there was no danger of a flood. He urged people not to trust baseless rumours and warned that strict action would be taken against those responsible for spreading the misinformation.
