A faculty member at Khammam Government Medical College is facing serious charges. He is accused of harassing a first-year student who had approached him for help after being bullied by second-year students.
The first-year medical student, originally from Mulugu in the Warangal district, was teased by his seniors because of his hairstyle, which they said looked “Chinese.” Unable to handle the pressure, the student decided to cut his hair to avoid further harassment.
Dr. Rahman, an Assistant Professor responsible for the college’s anti-ragging committee, became aware of the situation. However, instead of addressing the senior students’ behavior, Dr. Rahman allegedly took the student to a salon on November 12 and had his head shaved.
Feeling humiliated, the student reported the incident to the college principal the next day, on November 13. In response, the principal, Dr. S Rajeswarara Rao, informed the Director of Medical Education, and a committee was formed to investigate the matter.
Following the complaint, Dr. Rahman was removed from his position on the anti-ragging committee. Further actions may be taken against him once the investigation report is finalized.
