Hyderabad: All employees working at the Secretariat will soon have their attendance marked through facial recognition technology. The State government has decided to introduce this system to make attendance more accurate, efficient, and secure.
A circular about this new system was issued on Tuesday. According to officials, the system uses advanced technology to scan and verify a person’s identity using their facial features. This eliminates the need for manual signing. When an employee arrives, they simply need to stand in front of a device, look at the camera for a few seconds, and their attendance will be automatically recorded. The system will keep track of both entry and exit times.
This new attendance system will apply to all regular Secretariat employees, including circulating officers and staff working on an outsourcing basis. It includes anyone whose salary is paid by the Secretariat departments under the ‘Secretariat Heads of Account’.
Employee registration for this system will begin on November 22. Each employee will receive a message on their mobile phone with their allotted time slot for registration. Regular employees should bring their ID cards and last month’s pay slip, while outsourcing staff must bring their ID cards along with an attested copy from the concerned officer.
Facial recognition devices will be installed at all entry and exit points of the building, on each floor, near elevators, and in various departments. Other attendance rules mentioned in Chapter XX of the Secretariat office manual will remain unchanged. All departments are required to inform their staff about the new system and ensure that everyone, including outsourced staff, gets registered.
